Outside Machinist — Tampa, FL (Ship Repair)
AMS is hiring an outside machinist for ship-repair work in Tampa, Florida. Remove, repair, align, and reinstall shipboard machinery aboard vessels in for repair on Port Tampa Bay.
The pay
What AMS pays
$35–$40
per hour, plus overtime opportunities
The work
What you'll do on this crew
- Remove, repair, and reinstall shipboard machinery such as pumps, valves, and steering gear
- Pull, inspect, and align shafting and propulsion components
- Take precision measurements and work from drawings and technical manuals
- Rig and move heavy components safely in tight machinery spaces

- Shipboard or marine machinery repair experience
- 5+ years of shipyard or marine experience preferred
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Valid TWIC card, or the ability to obtain one for yard access
- Able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and respirator fit test
